10 Days in New Zealand: From Hobbiton to Milford Sound

Only have 10 days? This tour takes you from Auckland to Queenstown and packs in the highlights of both islands: Hobbiton, geothermal Rotorua, Marlborough wine, Kaikōura, Lake Tekapo and Milford Sound.
North Island: Auckland, Hobbiton and Rotorua
You arrive in Auckland with a free evening at Viaduct Harbour and the Sky Tower. Day 2 takes you to the Hobbiton Movie Set, where you walk through the Shire and stop for a drink at the Green Dragon Inn. In Rotorua you soak in a mud bath at Hell's Gate, one of the country's most active geothermal areas.
Marlborough and Kaikōura
A short flight takes you to Blenheim for a Marlborough Sounds wildlife tour, VIP wine tasting and a night at a luxury lodge with spa and hot pools. The next day you stop at the Kaikōura seal colony on the drive to Christchurch, then get up close with penguins at the International Antarctic Centre.
The Southern Lakes
From Christchurch you head inland to Lake Tekapo and the Church of the Good Shepherd, then on to Queenstown. Day 7 is a cruise on Milford Sound. Day 8 covers Arrowtown, the Crown Range lookout, That Wanaka Tree and Glenorchy. Day 9 is yours: relax, or try one of Queenstown's adventure activities.
