Two must-sees in one day. Walk through the Shire, then float under glowworms after a picnic lunch. Bring a light jacket for the caves.

Sky Tower Auckland Ticket

The best view of the city from Auckland's tallest tower. Go before sunset, then stay for the city lights.

SkyWalk, SkyJump or SkyRide

For thrill seekers. Walk around the outside of the Sky Tower or jump off it. I still get sweaty palms watching.

See Auckland from the water on a real sailboat. Calm, easy and great for photos of the city skyline.

Rangitoto Island Ferry Tickets

Hike to the top of a volcano in about an hour. Wear good shoes and bring water, there are no shops on the island.

Wine, beaches and vineyard views, a short ferry ride from the city. A perfect slow day.
